Witch's Brew and Giveaway!

10.09.2010

This card was really experimental for me. My plan was to create a mason jar filled with Halloween Treats and color the jar to give it a glass-like feel. I tried twice to color the jar, but the markers I had just didn't make it seem very glass-like. Then I remembered I had a brand new package of Glossy Accents in my stash - so I held my breath and started to ooze the gloss directly over my candy corn stickers. I waited about 30 minutes and voila! A perfect glass effect with very little effort!

After the gloss was dry, I made one more stamped image of the mason jar lid; colored it with Copic markers and added foam tape for dimension. I added a scrap piece of lace and tucked it under the lid to make it look like a real mason jar straight from the kitchen. I wrapped some PTI baker's twine around the jar and added a Witch's Brew tag. Then I adhered the jar and a cute little pumpkin to the patterned paper.

It's a little hard to see in the photos, but can you see the raised detail from the Glossy Accents on the jar? It's so smooth and shiny, just like glass! I'm so glad this card happened by accident. I think it turned out better than I had planned.
