Happy Valentine's Day! Today, the Clear and Simple Stamps team has joined together for a fun challenge. Simply stated, it's all about sentiments! Yes, our challenge was to use only sentiments for our creations today. With so many new stamps released featuring text, script and fun fonts, it was fun to pick out my stamps for this project.

I used Alpha Duo for my focus by stamping "birthday" in a fun rainbow pattern. Remember Roy G. Biv in school? I used that formula to select my colors, then stamped "happy" from Holly Jolly across the top in black. For a soft element, I added some spiral circles on the bottom using Trendy Tags and finished my card with some butterflies.

For my Moxie Fab creation, I used Love Cupid from Cath's list combined with Shapes: Hearts Die Combo set and Party Favor #2 Die Cut box template.

This party favor box set is perfect for all you DIYers out there! Easy to assemble and even more fun to mix and match with your favorite papers! I can see this box would be perfect for party favors, wedding favors, special treats, the list goes on and on...

Of course, I used this box to create a little jewelry box to house a necklace I made for my daughter. For the insert of the box, I used the flat piece lid (yes, this die cut set comes with two different style lids!) and placed it inside the box. I cut a slit from the corners for the necklace to stay in place.

The outside of the box is decorated in layers of felt cut from Shapes: Hearts Die Cut Combo, stitched together with embroidery floss. Yep! I'd say it's Moxie Fab too!

Critters Party Elements Review

Hi everyone! I'm back to share with you another fun creation using the latest product release from Clear and Simple Stamps. Today, the design team is focusing on using the stamp set Party Elements: Critters. It's a great little set that's perfect for creating invitations and party favors.

In my household, we are big campers! Just can't get enough of the great outdoors! So this is what I've based my party theme from...

I started with Kraft Like A Rockstar Brindle cardstock and some fun patterned paper. The leaves were a great embellishment for the great outdoors theme.

Inside, I used the branch stamp from Taglines: Critters and added some gradient leaves using Fall Studio.

The little gift bag was created using the newest die template: Party Favors #1. I just love how easy this little favor bag is to assemble. Just one piece of adhesive is all you need to keep it all together!

I think this would be so cute to fill with fishing bait and hooks for the serious campers and maybe some chocolate and marshmallows for the kiddos.

Lucky Charm

Hi everyone! I'm back to share another card I created with the January/February release at Clear and Simple Stamps. This time, I'm playing along with Lucky Charm combined with Background Basics 1.

I admit, it took me a few attempts, but I created a little wreath using the clovers from Lucky Charm. I started by tracing a Spellbinders die cut circle with a pencil onto my patterned paper. Then I stamped the large and medium sized leaves around the pencil marking. Once dried, I erased the pencil and colored in the clovers.

Next, I added some fun patterns using Background Basics 1. Yesterday, I mentioned that this set features eight different patterns. So today, I thought I'd share the honeycomb pattern and the music sheet (my favorite).

To complete my card, I added some little trinkets and bright blue baker's twine, which is now available in the CSS shop. There are 15 colors, but my favorites are the Red/White/Pink and the Red/White/Blue. I can't wait to start playing with those colors soon!

Clear and Simple Stamps Release Review

Hi there! I am popping in to share with you more new stamps released this past month at Clear and Simple Stamps! The latest collection is full of so many new goodies that there is still so much more to play with!

Today, I wanted to share with you a new favorite of mine in the store. It's a stamper's dream (well, it's mine anyway)! Allow me to introduce Background Basics 1...

This set has eight different patterns to mix and match and create the most prettiest of backgrounds! And CSS has got them all...honeycomb, woodgrain, paisley, chevron stripes, and more. I don't think I've ever seen another background stamp set with as much variety and this set has.

For my card, I chose the chevron stripes and the paisley pattern. I started with the stripes first, then masked the pattern before stamping the paisleys. The fun sentiment is from Critter Sentiments- a cute and whimsical set that coordinates well with the rest of the Critters Collection.

Next, I adhered white cardstock onto gray cardstock, then ran the large heart die cut through my Cuttlebug. Then I had fun adding a collection of buttons to fill the inside of the heart.

Waltzingmouse Challenge - Vintage Style

It's been a windy, windy day today. So I've stayed inside creating in my craft room hoping that the wind doesn't blow the roof off the house! lol!

But the good news is that today is a new challenge over at Waltzingmouse! And I am excited to share this little vintage style creation with all of you! Here is my take on the sketch...

I used a total of four Waltzingmouse stamps. Starting with Text It, I stamped a pretty script background then distressed the white cardstock to add a warm glow. I then heat embossed a pretty flourish in a soft lavender color.

Next, I stamped a scalloped border using Dainty Doilies and popped it onto my cardstock with dimensional foam tape. The dress form was created using You're Lovely and a bit of paper piecing using more Text It backgrounds.

And don't you just love that ribbon? It's a new color I've been experimenting with and I love how pretty and soft it turned out!

All You Need Is Love - CR84FN 46

Thanks for bearing with me as I share one more card with you all tonight. It's been a while (since August, I think) that I last played along with the challenge at CR84FN. It's one of my favorite challenges to play along with. Needless to say, I've missed hanging around over there. lol!

I decided to pair this challenge up with the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #150. What a great sketch! It really had me inspired to play along.

So the colors for CR84FN's challenge were light pink, yellow, and neutral. I immediately thought of the papers from Pink Paislee's Nantucket collection. I simply layered my papers, stitched around the edges, and added some pretty lace and a heart-shaped paper doily.

The large flower I created a while ago following this tutorial. Then I added a small polymer clay flower that I created from a mold. If you are looking for some great molds, try Mold Muse on Etsy. I have purchased several styles and love 'em to pieces!

Winter Bunny - Lawnscaping Challenge

I'm back to share another card I created today (just for fun). When I saw that Lawnscaping was having a Winter Wonderland theme, I knew I had to play along. Considering it does not snow where I live, but it still felt like freezing weather today. I don't think my slippers left my feet all day long. Brrrr...

I really wanted my card to have that "cold chill in the air" kind of feeling. So I stamped at random some fun snowflakes from Frosties and used pretty blue papers from October Afternoon's Farmhouse collection. After stamping that cute little bunny, I thought he really looks like he is having fun on that sled - so I stamped some fun little sentiments making this card good for an all occasion kind of event. (I can't believe I used four different stamps from Lawn Fawn. That's got to be a record for me somehow! lol!)

Rosie Posie - Just Us Girls Color Challenge

Hello out there! Well, it's been a while since I've created anything just for fun and for no other reason that to just create. So today I had the chance to play along in a few challenges. Some for the first time and others are some that I've missed playing with.

This card was created for the "Just Us Girls" challenge #120. And this is the first time I have ever played along. Since I am so fond of color challenges, I am sure I will join their challenges again real soon.

Since the challenge asks for red, pink, and white, I used my newest stamps from a few of my favorites places, Clear and Simple Stamps (for the beautiful quote script font in the background), Waltzingmouse Stamps (for the sweet sentiment) and Papertrey Ink (for the hexagon background and gorgeous flowers).

Well, that's my take on the color challenge at Just Us Girls. And oh my...I had a blast creating something just for fun!

From Your Secret Admirer - A Waltzingmouse Sketch

Happy Saturday everyone! It's a new sketch today at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge blog and I am super excited about this one. It was right up my alley and put me right in my comfort zone. A little bit of layering and a lot of flexible options with this one.

Here is my take on this week's sketch...

I decided to use Sweethearts stamps again this week. Aren't those hearts just perfect with Valentine's Day coming up? I paired them with Very Vintage Labels 1, which is my most favorite of the Spellbinders compatible stamps.

To complete my card, I tied a pretty gingham bow and added two stick pins with a pretty little locket. I know! Me and my ribbon...lol.

Very Vintage Labels No. 1

Runway Inspired Challenge

So this is my first time playing along with a challenge at Runway Inspired. It was great reason for me to break out my new stamps from Clear and Simple Stamps, who happens to be the sponsor this week for the challenge!

And I've created something totally outside my element for this challenge...I've gone CAS! It's a style I really struggle with, but admire so much. In fact, some of my favorite cards I see around are CAS. How I wish I had the ability to feel a bit more comfortable in this style.

I think this card is a good start for me.

I was inspired by the rainbow pattern of the dress and decided to create my own little rainbow patterned background. I used Hearts Plus to stamp those cute mini hearts, then die cut the large heart from Shapes: Hearts Die Cuts Combo in the center.

I then used A Blanc Check Heavy White Cardstock (120 lb. yes-ir-see!) and stamped my sentiment and a cute clover from Lucky Charm. To add a little something special, I topped the clover with a little green jewel. (just like the shoes in the photo).

Well, I am having a bit of computer trouble. It won't stay powered on longer than a few minutes. So I've rushed to get these photos posted in draft so that I can add text from my iPad. Sheesh!

Anyway, on to the fun stuff! A new sketch for you to play along with at Waltzingmouse! Yay!

I think this is such a great sketch because it allowed me to use up some of my scraps. And I know that we all have those scraps laying around! I used some bits from My Mind's Eye - Lost & Found Blush. A great compliment to Waltzingmouse's Sweethearts stamp set. So sweet for Valentine's Day around the corner.

I also wanted to share the card I created for last week's sketch. I wasn't able to post it because of all the computer trouble. Grrr...

In January we celebrate lots of birthdays - my kiddos' and my own. I thought this would be a fun little card to give to my son for his big day. It might be the last year I can make him a "kid" themed card (he's growing so fast!).

I used fun papers from October Afternoon's Rocket Age and paired it up with Half Pint Heros stamps from Waltzingmouse. Then, I stamped the inside with a matching sentiment.

Well, I'm glad to have finally gotten this posted on my blog. Even though it took me way too long!

But the good news is that I'm getting ready to head out for the weekend. My birthday is coming up and hubby is taking me on a little road trip. My favorite!

It's In the Bag!

Yes, I am still super excited about the January/February release at Clear and Simple Stamps! Especially the theme of our group project, "It's in the bag!"

The Design Team is featuring projects using the newest party favor die cuts to create little party bags. I just love giving these bags as gifts and they are the perfect size for little treats!

I used the Party Favor #3 die cut for my bag. I love that the die cut comes with little slots on the sides to allow you to tie your own ribbon or add a handle with ease. Another fun idea is to leave the handle off, which would be perfect for larger sized goodies to fit inside.

The layers of hearts were created with another new die cut set: Hearts. It's a combo set that includes a full set of various sized die cut hearts with matching stamps. I then stamped a sentiment onto that pretty little banner from Love Cupid. Love that name for a stamp set too!

This little treat bag was so simple to put together. The die cut created a seamless bag and only required a single piece of adhesive to put it all together. It doesn't get much better than that!

The Big Reveal at Clear and Simple Stamps!

Hi again! I'm back and have joined up with the Design Team gals to share the newest release at Clear and Simple Stamps!

And you won't believe how many new goodies they have in store for you! There are so many new things to choose from, including 12 stamp sets, 8 coordinating die cuts, twine, and Copic markers!

Today, I am sharing a little project I created using my favorite die cut from this release: Party Favor #1. It's a single fluid piece that will create sturdier party favors with a seamless appearance. I love that it only requires a single piece of adhesive to keep it all in place! This makes it so easy to assemble.

I decorated these party favors in a Valentine's Day theme using Little Critters, an adorable set of animals that are paired with matching sentiments and designed by the super talented Stephany Zerbe.

This raccoon is one of my favorites! I love the little mask around his eyes! A perfect little love bandit.

This next little critter is a sweet little bat. She would be perfect for Halloween, but I've made her a bit sweeter by adding a touch of glitter to her wings. Now she is pretty in pink!

And don't you just love that little bee? Again, by adding a bit of glitter, this softens the bee to be the perfect Valentine for a little girl. Which, my daughter says is her favorite of the little critters. She thinks his round belly is cute and must be full of honey.

I filled each favor with white paper doilies that I misted in coordinating colors, then filled with treats. And even though these were intended to be Valentine's Day goody bags, my kiddos just couldn't wait. So they've each claimed their favorites and devoured the lollipops!

{Sneak Peak} Clear and Simple Stamps January Release

Happy New Year! Tomorrow, January 5th, Clear and Simple Stamps is releasing it's new set of goodies. And whoa! This is going to be BIG as CSS is releasing a huge line of products to kick off 2012! There will be a large variety of stamps, die cuts, and a few other surprises too that I know you won't want to miss.

No. Seriously. You won't want to miss! lol.

Today, I am sharing a project I created using a few of the new sets that you'll get to see in full tomorrow on the CSS blog. I used several stamp sets to create this little pillow box full of Valentine's Day treats. Using the clear pillow boxes that are available in the CSS shop made this project so easy!

I created a patterned paper using the new set: Hearts Plus. This set is perfect for creating backgrounds, patterns, and stamping directly onto die cuts.

Speaking of die cuts, I cut a piece of white burlap using: Hearts Die Cuts. I can already tell that this collection of die cuts will be one of my new favorites. I then cut another small heart, stamped in a woodgrain pattern, then added my sentiment from Love Cupid.

Love Beyond Measure

Hello out there! I sure have missed this little blog of mine and catching up with all of you. I didn't intend on being away so long, but it sure feels good to be back!

I hope you had a wonderful holiday spent with your family. It's truly one of the best times of the year (this, and summer vacation, of course!).

I have one last card to share with you that was created with the Limited Edition Let's Celebrate stamp set from Clear and Simple Stamps. I paired the "celebrate" sentiment with another from a favorite of mine - On the Mend.

I just love the sewing theme! It's so crafty for a girl like me! And perfect for a sweet little Valentine card.

And look at those cute little crisscross stitches. Love!

In keeping with the sewing theme, I used some measuring tape ribbon and embellished it with a mini wooden spool, wrapped with twine.

Well, that's all for tonight! I am getting ready to play a quick game of "Just Dance" on the Wii before bed time. I love that game! And having the whole family play along is even better!

A Waltzingmouse Sketch

It's Saturday and time for a new sketch from Claire at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Blog! Not only is it a new sketch, but it is also the last - for 2011, that is. This will be the last sketch for the rest of the year to allow a short break for the holidays.

But we will be back for the new year with brand new sketches that you will be sure to love!

This week, the sketch is to create anything with a star. I used Seasons of Love and Nordic Winter to create a cheerful little Christmas card! I've been using a lot of those sparkling snowflakes for my projects lately. I just can't help it - they are so pretty!

I dressed up the star by sprinkling a very light coat of tinsel glitter and added a pretty silver jewel. I think it adds just the right amount of shine. Don't you?

An here is the sketch that Claire has come up with for this week. I do hope you will want to ink up your Waltzingmouse stamps and play along with us before the new year! Celebrate Card Making with Clear and Simple Stamps

Hi everyone! Today, the Clear and Simple Stamps Design Team is featuring a fun group project to give you some ideas for creating your own set of cards! These are so fun to give as little gifts to someone and make a wonderful collection of cards to keep on hand. Perfect for those last minute gifts!

I decided to create a boxed card set, which I am happy to say that my little sis has already adopted (that's just a nice way of saying she quickly snagged a few of her favorites from my craft room).

I started by creating the box, using pretty cardstock in Trendsetter Blue and strong adhesive. For the cards, I used Kraft Like A Rockstar in Cream cardstock. I love the texture of this cardstock so much with its small bits of fiber throughout. It really gives it a soft, but rustic look.

To give the cards a similar look, I used pattered papers from one collection - Nantucket from Pink Paislee and added a scalloped border to each card in more Trendsetter Blue.

After embellishing each card, I stamped various sentiments for different occasions by mixing and matching between a few of my favorite stamps from Clear and Simple Stamps. I love how versatile the sentiments are!

The new Limited Edition set is called Let's Celebrate and it is the perfect compliment to any of the CSS stamps. This set is available in the shop as a FREE GIFT from CSS when you spend $100 now until the end of the year! You can read all the details by visiting the CSS blog.

To complete my card set, I decorated the box with more patterned paper, tied with an aqua colored ribbon, and embellished with a fun little tag. Now I am so happy this little card set has found a new happy home with my sis!

Let It Snow at the Kraft Journal!

"Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!"

Every time I hear those three words, I get that song stuck in my head. How about you? Will you be humming the tune in your head all day like I will be?

Today at The Kraft Journal, the theme is "Let It Snow!" We want to see your snowy themed creations using kraft cardstock.

I found this great little die cut snowflake in my stash and knew it would be perfect for the theme. I placed in on top of a white paper doily and a sparkling snowflake. I just love adding layers!

For my embellishments, I used pretty Victoria Seam Binding ribbon from The Kraft Outlet and tied a little silver bell using Earthy Hemp Cord. For fun, I curled the ends of the hemp cord by simply wrapping it around a pencil. After holding it for a few seconds, the cording holds its new curly shape!

Waltzingmouse Sketch Time!

Happy Saturday!

Today, my sister is coming over so we can bake all day! I can't wait to start smelling those yummy goodies baking in the oven! I have the baking supplies all stocked up and my apron is ready for a day of fun. Have any requests? ; )

This week at Waltzingmouse Stamps, Claire has come up with a super easy peasy sketch for you all to try!

I took advantage of the sketch to create a little get well card using Say It Loud. During this time of year, you never know when you're going to need a quick little card to help make someone feel better when they are under the weather (hey, that rhymed!). Make It Monday::Tags and Gift Cards

I've been busy doing my Christmas shopping and bought a few gift cards for the family. We love using them to shop the week after Christmas and hit all the sales, get coffee and hot chocolate, and make a fun day out of it.

The kiddos really love being able to shop and purchase whatever they want with the gift cards they find in their stockings. Plus, I think it's a great way to teach them about spending responsibly since they have a budget to stick with.

Today's challenge at The Kraft Journal is to create "Christmas Tags or Gift Card Holders." And you can tell I took advantage by choosing to create a gift card holder. I created mine based off the tutorial I did for The Kraft Journal - only I changed the theme from Thanksgiving to a Winter Wonderland!

The Small Glassine Bags from The Kraft Outlet are the perfect size for gift cards. Just pop them in and decorate! Talk about saving time! I'm all for that!

I used some Blue Baker's Twine to attach a little Round Metal Edge Tag that I stamped using Trendy Tags and Taglines from Clear and Simple Stamps.

I created a little snowflake using Vintage Dictionary Paper. Since the paper is thin, I added a small piece of kraft cardstock behind the dictionary paper before punching the snowflake out. This prevents the paper from tearing or getting caught inside the punch.

To create the snow on the button, I took a white piece of cardstock and filed the edge with a pair of scissors. I glued the flakes from the paper onto the button and love the results!

Let It Snow!

It's Saturday! I've just finished up my creation for today's challenge at the Waltzingmouse sketch blog. Then later, I'm planning on getting some holiday shopping finished. The goal is to be done early this year. Yeah - we'll see about that!

So today's sketch is perfect for creating ornaments, tags, or even a round card. I chose to create a card.

I used my Cricut once again to cut the round shaped card. Two days in a row of using my Cricut! That's almost as much as I've used it all year! Truth be told, I forgot it can cut round shaped cards. Otherwise I'd have been using it so much more. Ha! Oh well!

I used two Waltzingmouse stamps - Compliments of the Season and Festive Foliage. I think these are quickly becoming my favorite Christmas stamps. They're just so pretty!

To fancy it up a bit, I found some Zva crystals to dress up the border of my card. Yep! That's better!

Here's what I created using the sentiment "Celebrate the Season."

I used my Cricut to cut a round-shaped card using cream cardstock from CSS and chose pretty holiday papers from Basic Grey.

I then added some pretty cream colored trim with satin, then stamped my sentiment onto heavy cardstock from Clear and Simple Stamps. I really love the contrast between the cream and white cardstock!

For my embellishments, I chose a variety of seasonal flowers from Prima and Petaloo. Love the festive foliage! It's just another reason to celebrate this season!

Behind the Scenes at Clear and Simple Stamps

Hi everyone! I wanted to share with you a recent "Behind the Scenes" interview I did with Nicki, co-owner of Clear and Simple Stamps. This interview was featured on the CSS blog and now I am so excited (and a bit humble) to share it with you on my blog.

Before I get started on the "Behind the Scenes" interview, I wanted to say that Nicki is just the sweetest person. Both she and Rennee really put a lot of care into their product, provide amazing customer service (typically, my orders arrive in less than one week from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific coast - that's record time). Each shipment comes packaged beautifully, with little notes inside the box! I love this attention to detail!

And I had no idea how much of a team it takes to create the designs and products available in the shop! It's definitely a lot of work that I now appreciate even more! And now...on to the interview.

Behind the Scenes: The Interview

CSS: Hi Kim. Glad you could join us this morning. Hopefully it’s not too early where you are?
DURAN: Hi. No it’s not too early at all. Happy to talk with you today.
CSS: We absolutely love the project you are sharing today but we’ll get to that in a few. Tell us a little bit about Kim.
DURAN: Ahh thanks! Well, I’m a mom and I have two kids, work full time – it’s a typical busy life. {laughs}
CSS: Two kids?
DURAN: Yes, a boy and a girl. They are usually right with me when I am crafting whether they are playing with toys or doing homework.
CSS: That’s great. It’s always good when you can have the kiddos involved.
DURAN: Well that’s really how I got started. I loved to create mini albums for gifts to give to family, you know the grandparents. And I really liked the tools I was using for the mini albums, like die cuts, and it grew into a love for stamping. Eventually I starting sharing my projects through blogging.
CSS: Ooh, so we’ll maybe see some CSS mini albums from you in the future. {laughs} Blogging is an integral part to stamping, and you have a great blog. Any tips or suggestions you have for beginner bloggers?
DURAN: Well, for me I like lots of photos. You will see that I share images of the different angles so you can see all of the layers.
CSS: Speaking of layers, you have a fantastic style of stamping. What style of stamper would you say you are?
DURAN: Hmmm…that’s a tough one. I would say eclectic. I like to take an idea and totally rework it into something different. It’s fun for me to look at a stamp set and create with it in a way that is not so obvious.
CSS: We would have to agree, you are masterful at that skill of creating out-of-the-box. Your project today is a great example of that. Walk us through your design process. How do you start with simple papers and stamps and create such a beautiful project?
DURAN: For me its all about color.
CSS: Do you have a favorite color?
DURAN: Oh gosh no favorite. I am inspired by the person I am creating for, the project I’m working on, or usually the seasons. Like right now I am really into yellows and browns for the fall.
CSS: So for today’s card color was the driver?
DURAN: Yes, I wanted to create a Christmas card. I picked my papers first based off of color, and then coordinating patterns. I’ll then select embellishments that are also in the same matching colors. And then I select the stamps.
CSS: So colors, papers, embellies, stamps….got it!
DURAN: {laughs} And sometimes if I get stuck I will ask my daughter what she thinks and she will help me with my projects.
CSS: Ahh that is awesome. Well with Christmas on its way, and this fun card you have today. Are there any holiday traditions you have in the Duran house?
DURAN: Just to spend as much family time as possible. We do lots of traditional things like build gingerbread houses, bake cookies for Santa, look at Christmas lights – those kind of family things.
CSS: What about cards? Do you send out Christmas cards?
DURAN: Yes, I actually make each one different depending on who I am sending it to. I like to make them personal.
CSS: Wow Kim.
DURAN: I know, that’s why I have to start like now to get them all done {laughs}
CSS: We can’t tell you how fun this has been. Thank you for joining us and sharing a little about yourself. We know you have a great project for us today. We’ll let you take it from here…

Project Commentary:

Die cuts are one of my "go-to" tools, and I am so excited that Clear and Simple Stamps is adding more die cuts that coordinate with their stamp sets. What I like the most about Trendy Tags is that you truly get several frame options for both size dies, and sentiments for use with any occasion. This makes it so versatile. And the matching Taglines set is also fun and it too can be used all year long.

For today's card, I focused on creating a Christmas card. I made a banner from the mini tag die cuts, and stamped each with a letter to spell out "joy". You have several options with the tags, which I love - it keeps the ability to be creative wide open. You can add chipboard letters, stickers, even jewels, but I chose to use stamps of course.

My papers were chosen based off of traditional holiday colors and I added jingle bells for my seasonal embellishment. I had lots of fun creating this project for you today. I hope it inspires you to use your CSS stamps and die cuts in a creative new way. - Kim

Behind the Scenes: Joyful Greetings

Make a card using Kraft Like a Rockstar Cream (measures 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″)
Trim green designer paper 4 1/4″ x 4 3/4″. Use scalloped scissors to trim the edges. Adhere to card.
Trim red designer paper 4 1/4″ x 3 1/2″. Adhere in the center of green designer paper.
Trim white paper doily in half. Adhere to top of red designer paper.
Die cut 3 tags using Kraft Like a Rockstar Cream cardstock. Stamp tag with Dare to be a Diva Red ink. Stamp letters in Dish All the Dirt Brown ink. Thread red baker’s twine through tags. Set aside.
Tie red seam binding ribbon around top of white paper doily.
Gather tags and tie baker’s twine around red seam binding and embellishing with silver bells. Affix tags to card with dimensional foam tape.
Stamp sentiment onto card stock in Dish All the Dirt Brown ink. Stamp stars in Dare to be a Diva Red ink. Trim and affix to bottom of red designer paper with dimensional foam tape.
Lightly ink edges of card with Dish All the Dirt Brown ink.

A Krafty Christmas at The Kraft Journal

I hope everyone enjoyed their long holiday weekend! I spent the weekend decorating the house and getting crafty. I made a few Christmas cards, a mini album, and a little paper lantern for my daughter's room. I'd say it was a pretty successful weekend!

I absolutely adore the combination of red and kraft together! It's such a classic color combination! I used papers from The Girl's Paperie, some pretty Light Kraft Cardstock from The Kraft Outlet and embellished with Garnet Stick Pins, a button with Green Baker's Twine, and pretty layers of a poinsettia bloom.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! I had the most wonderful day with my family. They all came over to our home where we cooked, baked, played games, and enjoyed the day together. It couldn't have been any better!

Today welcomes a new sketch this week at Waltzingmouse! Claire has come up with something a little different this time and I just love the idea! The sketch this time is to create some place cards. What a perfect little idea for the holiday season!

I created a soft color palette that can be used for almost any occasion. Just swap out the flowers to fit the season and these place cards could be used year-round!

I used two Waltzingmouse stamps sets: Join Us (perfect for thank-you notes, place cards, and invitations) and Nordic Winter (as perfect as a warm pair of mittens).

No Peeking...

When I was little, if you told me "no peeking" at the gifts under the tree, then you might as well have not put any gift under the tree at all. Once I was put under the influence of "don't look..no peeking..or wait until Christmas," it was at that moment that I couldn't resist the temptation to pick up each little gift, shake them, and try to see if the Scotch tape was loose enough for a peek.

My grandma was famous for wrapping the gifts too loosely. She only used two pieces of small tape, so you could easily peek inside the gift wrap. We used to have so much fun, my sister and I, peeking through the packages the eve of Christmas, giggling that my grandma did not know what we were up too. hee hee!

Now that I'm grown and have children of my own, I make sure to not only use plenty of tape when wrapping gifts, but to not tempt them by putting the gifts out the night before. Plus, it's better for me anyway because I am the type of person that wants to let them open all their gifts right away! I love this time of year!

Enough reminiscing.

Here's my project for today's Kraft Journal challenge...

I started with a simple kraft box and decoupaged Vintage Dictionary Paper around the sides. I wanted the paper to look vintage, so I crinkled the paper while it was still wet from the glue. Once dry, I layered a thin coat of white paint, then gave it some age by adding Old Paper Distress Ink.

For the lid, I used a scrap of holiday patterned paper, then coated the sides with more white paint. I lightly sanded the edges of the box to give it a shabby look. Then, I created a simple bow using Buff Ivory Cardstock and trimmed the edges with pinking shears. I stamped and cut a holly leaf from Waltzingmouse's Festive Foliage set, added a pretty green bow, and Garnet Stick Pins.

The hang tag was stamped with a sentiment from Season's of Love - Tags. To dress the tag up, I replaced the white string it came with for Red Baker's Twine.

Inside the box, I added small pieces of tissue paper that I stained in light green. Adding some chocolate truffles makes this a quick and easy gift with a personal touch. I just love homemade gifts - don't you?

Are you all ready to play along with another fun sketch this week at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge? This time there is another easy sketch that I know you're going to love!

I am taking advantage of the challenges at Waltzingmouse by crafting up some Christmas cards. Of course, using stamps from Waltzingmouse makes it so easy - there is a huge variety of stamps for the season available from the shop. And as I always say, I just adore them!

I used papers from last year's Tinsel and Twig collection, layered some pretty white trim, and gorgeous gingham ribbon. To make sure I followed the sketch, I used the Very Vintage Labels No. 1 stamped frame - I thought it resembled the sketch perfectly!

My sentiment is from Very Vintage Christmas, then I made it complete by stamping those pretty flourishes.

Happy Monday! It's time for a fresh start of the week with a new challenge at The Kraft Journal. This time our theme is "Sweet Treats & Baker's Twine."

One of my favorite things about this time of year is giving little treats to brighten someone's day. So today I am happy to share with you my take on the challenge using an adorable little Kraft Coffee Bag from The Kraft Outlet. They are the perfect size!

I used patterned papers from October Afternoon's Very Merry Collection, added a little paper doily and large white ribbon. Then I added a piece of Vintage Dictionary Paper onto kraft cardstock and used a snowflake shaped punch to cut out. Since the dictionary paper is thin, it's a good idea to adhere it to a piece of cardstock so the paper does not tear when using a punch.

Then, I embellished with a little silver bell and Red Baker's Twine.

I just love the new sketch this week at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Blog! I love creating cards with layers, tags, and of course, ribbon - today's sketch has it all!

I kept with another Christmas greeting card. Simply because I adore Claire's newest stamps released for the holidays. All the details and styles of font - just gorgeous!

I kept my card design pretty close to the sketch, except I used a much larger tag than the one shown in the sketch. Wouldn't these make perfect little gift tags?

Watch Us Wednesday - Give Thanks

Hi everyone! It's Wednesday - time for our weekly Watch Us Wednesday feature at The Kraft Journal!

Our theme for this week's challenge is "Give Thanks."

In keeping with our theme, today I will be sharing with you a quick and easy tutorial for giving thanks and showing your appreciation by creating a fall-themed gift card tutorial.

My mom is such a big helper and I wanted to thank her for spending time with my kiddos this past week during their fall break from school. I know they had fun going to the bookstore, watching movies, and spending time with grandma. To show my appreciation, I wanted to give my mom a little gift card to her favorite coffee shop.

Using products from The Kraft Outlet made it so easy!

I gathered my supplies: some Lunch Bag Kraft Cardstock, a paper doily, Brown Kraft Baker's Twine, Venice Gaffer Tape, leaves, some buttons, and a Small Glassine Bag.

Place your gift card inside the Glassine Bag and fold down just over the top of the gift card. Place a strip of Gaffer Tape starting at the seam of the fold, down to the bottom of the Glassine Bag. Trim your paper doily in half, then apply a thin coat of Glimmer Mist to turn the white paper doily into a pretty orange color. Blot with a towel to dry, then affix to the folded seam of the bag. Trim off the excess.

Oh! And by the way! I just love the size of these Glassine Bags - they are the perfect size for gift cards!

Wrap a layer of baker's twine around the Glassine Bag to hold it all in place. Use a scalloped border punch to cut out a piece of Lunch Bag Kraft Cardstock. Gather your favorite leaf and a pretty button.

Ink the edges of the scalloped circle. I used a hint of orange, mixed with brown distress ink. I love the fiery glow it has! Affix the scalloped circle to the top of the Glassine Bag, followed by the leaf, then button.

Next, stamp your sentiment onto the Lunch Bag Kraft Cardstock and trim around the edges of the letters. Adhere the sentiment to the leaf using dimensional foam tape for a little pop.

And that's it! A super quick way to give thanks and show your appreciation with a little gift! I know my mom will love this little surprise! Hee hee!

I've said it before, but it's worth saying again - I love the new stamps released this month at Clear and Simple Stamps! It's all about tags and die cuts! Two of my favorites all combined into a stamp collection with endless possibilities.

Today, the Design Team is sharing some fun gift ideas for using the tags from Taglines and Trendy Tags. Of course, there are die cuts too!

I created a little gift box perfect for some jewelry, hair clips, make-up, you name it!

I started by punching a scalloped border from cardstock and adding some matching patterned paper.

After tying some pretty ribbon, I stamped two leaves from Fall Studio collection (a gorgeous stamp set) onto plain copy paper. Yes, plain paper from my printer! (I know, don't gasp.) I wanted the leaves to be delicate, soft, light. Just like they are in nature. I like how they were able to curl up softly by rolling the paper around a pencil.

I stamped a sweet little tag and tied it with baker's twine, and embellished with a millinery flower. The rich fall colors are my favorite part of this packaging. It's so easy to create when you have a stamp set that you enjoy creating with. I know these little tags are going to get plenty (and plenty) of use!

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #72

Hello everyone! Hope the start of the weekend is finding you well. It's Saturday and time for another sketch challenge at Waltzingmouse. And yes...this one was a challenge for me! lol

A two-fold! For some reason, I had a hard time coming up with decorating a larger space for my card. So here is my card, but pease don't laugh...

I thought my idea would work out by adding little hills of snow, some trees, and a house. But it didn't work out as well as what I had hoped. Oh well!

Holiday Gift Tags, New Stamp Release & Matching Die Cut

Happy November 1st!

I hope you all enjoyed a fun-filled Halloween.

Today is the first of the month and it's time for the latest stamp set release at Clear and Simple Stamps! Not only are the sets larger (twice the size than before), but CSS is releasing two sets this time that coordinate perfectly together AND...come with a matching die cuts!

And the timing is perfect! It's all about creating tags! But not just holiday tags! These new stamps are perfect for year-round occasions, would make adorable little bookmarks, and are the perfect size to fit onto a card. I love them and am sure you will too!

I have already started creating my Christmas gift card tags using Trendy Tags, Taglines, and the new die cut tag. For these little tags, I started by stamping the polka dot background using Dots and Lines, then stamping the border of the tag using Trendy Tags.

But my most favorite part was being able to mix and match the sentiments from both new stamp sets. There really is something for every occasion! Of course, I added a small little piece of white trim - thought it was a cute little detail for the holiday!

To complete my tags, I added some bright red ribbon, baker's twine and a few little jingle bells - I love how they sound!

Happy Halloween everyone! I hope that you are all having a wonderfully spooky day! It's Monday and time for another challenge at The Kraft Journal. Our theme this week is "Banners or Border Punches."

I used both a border punch and banners for my card today. I started with Light Kraft Cardstock from The Kraft Outlet and layered up different papers from Crate Paper's Farmhouse collection. It's perfect for the harvest season as fall is upon us.

I used chipboard banner pieces from Jenni Bowlin to create little banners hung from Brown Kraft Baker's Twine, then held it all together with colored clothespins.

In this photo, you can see my border punch much better. With a simple stamped sentiment, this is now a perfect little all occasion greeting card for the autumn season.

"One-of-a-Kind" Gift Tag

Happy Sunday!

I wanted to pop in to share with you a fun little gift tag I created using the latest stamp release "Crafty Sentiments" from Clear and Simple Stamps.

I created a simple little pocket by folding the bottom of my cardstock and stitching the edges shut. Added a little patterned paper and stamped a row of buttons on the top and bottom to add something fun! To keep with the sewing and clothesline theme, I found a super cute little clothes hanger paper clip to attach to the tag.

Inside the pocket is a manila tag, with trim and gorgeous buttons from Clear and Simple Stamps. I just love their buttons and use them all the time! Especially since they have such a large variety of colors to choose from. Be sure to check out their selection!

Christmas Wishes! Another Waltzingmouse Sketch!

Ok, so technically it's just a couple days until Halloween, but why not get started now on the Christmas cards! After all, the holidays get so busy that staying ahead of the rush sounds like a good plan to me!

Here is a new card I created for the latest challenge at the Waltzingmouse Sketch blog...

I was so excited when my new stamps arrived that I knew they would be perfect for today's sketch. I just adore Claire's design of a Cottage Christmas stamps. In fact, all of her designs...seriously gorgeous!

I added tinsel glitter for snow and used colored pencils this time. I like that the pencils gave a softer look.

I stamped my sentiment and little snowflakes from the Very Vintage Christmas set and cut it out into the shape of a little tag. And I just love that little button too from Crate Paper. It looks like a candy cane!

Speaking of candy canes...does anyone out there know of a good Peppermint Bark recipe they'd like to share? I can of course use Google to search out recipes, but I thought I'd ask if you know a good one.

Williams Sonoma makes a good batch of Peppermint Bark, but I thought I'd put my apron on this year and make my own.

My Last Hurrah...

Well my friends, today is bittersweet for me. This will be my last creation as part of the Design Team at Papercraft Star. I have decided to end my term after being with the team for almost one year.

Although I will not be part of the regularly scheduled weekly challenges, you will be sure to see me popping in every now and then to play along in their challenges, which I adore!

This was not an easy decision for me to make. Mainly because I adore the ladies on the team to pieces. They are sweethearts that hold many talents (each so different) and who I am proud to have shared the past year with.

So now, let's get to the card I've created for our challenge this week...

This card is my favorite Halloween card to date. I just love how it turned out! I love the crisp white background with the pretty layers of ribbon and that gorgeous plum colored flower.

I created this card based on a sketch that I designed for this week's Challenge 68 at Papercraft Star. I do hope you will want to play along...

I can see this sketch with pumpkins for fall, leaves instead of circles, buttons, flowers...anything! Or the sentiment could be replaced with layers of trim or ribbon. Just have fun with it!

I used several different stamp sets for this card, including my go-to stamp, Bannerific, from Lawn Fawn. There's nothing like a happy little banner! I stamped "trick or treat" from Papertrey Ink's Boo to You set - a perfect fit inside the banner.

The rest of the stamps, including the flourished circle, spooky cat, and cobwebs are from Papertrey Ink's Spooky Sweets II set. Another one of my favorite stamp sets. I added layers of ribbon and trim onto a journal card from The House Across the Bay called, Blank Backgrounds - perfect for creating tags, journaling or using as a background paper.

Anything Goes Challenge at the Kraft Journal!

Today opens a new challenge this week at The Kraft Journal. This time, it's Anything Goes! That's right, just create anything using kraft cardstock or products from The Kraft Outlet and link it up!

I took advantage of our challenge this week to create a birthday card for my mother-in-law. Since she's already received this card, it's safe to post it here on my blog. lol!

I started with a Light Kraft coverweight cardstock and added layers of beautiful patterned papers from My Mind's Eye. I am sad to say that I only have a few scraps left of this gorgeous paper. I might have to buy one more 6x6 paper pad because I enjoyed creating with it so much!

I used the music notes from the Steampunk Victoriana Rubbings, then I stamped her birthday with an old date stamp. I stamped my sentiment and cut it out to adhere to the label with foam tape and added a turquoise flower ribbon and a double-strand of Brown Kraft Baker's Twine. I love the vintage-style of this card!

Waltzingmouse Sketch Time!

I'm back with another card created for the latest sketch at Waltzingmouse! I have been crafting my heart out with so many Halloween creations, that I am kind of sad that the fun of Halloween is almost over.

So with that, here is one more Waltzingmouse Halloween card for the road...

I used the fence from Hocus Pocus as a fun little border, banner and sentiment from Bitty Banners and Midnight Feast.

Then I created some accordion shaped circles in different sizes and cut out the witch and bat silhouettes. I just love these little images!

All Hallow's Eve at Papercraft Star

Halloween is almost here! I just love watching the kids during their quest for the biggest bag of Halloween candy! I love that they get so competitive and yet, the next morning, they forget they even have any candy. That's when it's time for mama to have a peek and take out all the Snickers, Twix, and Smarties. hee hee hee!

Today at Papercraft Star is a new challenge and our theme is none else than Halloween! Whoo hoo!

Here is what I came up with...

I started by creating my own background using the little stars from Rock-A-Bye by Clear and Simple Stamps. Who would have thought that a baby themed stamp would work so perfectly for a Halloween card! I then stamped by sentiment in a stormy blue color using Pink Paislee's Twilight.

I just love this little advertising image from our sponsor, The House Across the Bay. I used the shop's Animals in Advertising collage sheet because I thought the little cats were spooky enough for our Halloween theme!

I then added some orange ribbon and tied pretty blue buttons in Trendsetter Blue (also from Clear and Simple Stamps). I just love how the buttons match the ink for my sentiment!

My patterned papers is from Cosmo Cricket's Matilda collection. I used a scalloped border punch and adhered to my card using a zig zag stitch.

Happy Halloween at CAS-ual Fridays!

Hi everyone! I know it's late into the evening, but I wanted to hop in quickly and share a card I created for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge.

This is my first time playing along. And to be quite honest, that's because I get nervous when creating anything CAS. I always admire other CAS cards I see, but when I try - let's face it...I always add layers, ribbon, and lots of embellishments.

So here's my attempt as CAS...

Okay...is my attempt at least decent? I tried. lol!

I added a little distressing around the edges, stamped some text background, a simple sentiment, then adhered a flourished label. The witch is a simple sticker. No fussy cutting for me tonight, thank you!

So, even if this card is not my typical style, I sure had fun creating it. Especially since it only took a few minutes!
